In the Spring of 2020, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) reached out to us to create posters reflecting the Life, the Work, and the Fight of people of color in Duluth, Minnesota. We were placed in teams and designated one decade from the last century. In correlation with the time period, we were assigned an artistic style inspired by a Black artist. Within our team, we each composed a poster reflecting the Life, the Work, or the Fight of this time period. In association with each team member’s poster, there was a correlating booklet auctioned at the NAACP’s Annual Freedom Fund Dinner. After an extensive amount of research, I fabricated a piece based on the Fight of people of color in the 1960s and evoked this message through both imagery and type.
